Description

Air Fryer Tortellini transforms store-bought tortellini into a crispy, cheesy, and mouthwatering treat. With minimal effort and just a few simple ingredients, it’s the perfect snack, appetizer, or meal addition.

Ingredients

9 ounces dried cheese tortellini

3 large eggs

1 1/2 cups Panko breadcrumbs

2/3 cup cornstarch

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

2 tablespoons Italian seasoning

1/3 cup Parmesan cheese

Cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Boil the Tortellini: Boil the tortellini in water for about 4 minutes, or until tender. Drain and blot them dry with paper towels.
  2. Prepare the Coatings:
    • In one bowl, mix the cornstarch, garlic powder, and onion powder.
    • In another bowl, whisk the eggs.
    • In a third bowl, combine the Panko breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, and Italian seasoning.
  3. Coat the Tortellini:
    • Coat the boiled tortellini in the cornstarch mixture.
    • Dip them into the egg wash.
    • Coat the tortellini in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to ensure they’re well-coated.
  4. Air Fry the Tortellini:
    • Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
    • Arrange the coated tortellini in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
    • Lightly spray them with cooking spray to help with crispiness.
    • Air fry for 10 minutes, shaking the basket every 3 minutes for even crisping.
  5. Serve: Once golden brown and crispy, remove from the air fryer and serve immediately.

Notes

For a spicier version, add red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper to the breadcrumb mixture.

Experiment with different types of cheese tortellini, such as spinach or mushroom.

For a more herby flavor, increase the amount of Italian seasoning or add basil and oregano.
