These 4th of July Waffle Cones are a festive and delicious treat that combines crunchy waffle cones, smooth whipped cream, and fresh berries. Perfect for summer gatherings or a fun family dessert, these cones are easy to make and customizable to your tastes.
Ingredients
12 waffle cones
1 cup milk or semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional)
½ cup red, white, and blue sprinkles
1 ½ cups heavy whipping cream
3 tablespoons powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup fresh strawberries, halved
¾ cup fresh blueberries
Optional Fillings:
Vanilla ice cream
Cheesecake mousse
Lemon curd
Strawberry jam
Instructions
- Prep Your Workstation: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to hold the dipped cones while they set.
- Melt the Chocolate: Combine chocolate chips and coconut oil (if using) in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring after each, until fully melted and smooth.
- Dip the Cones: Submerge the top edges of each waffle cone into the melted chocolate, coating about 1 inch. Tap the cones gently to remove any excess chocolate.
- Add Sprinkles: While the chocolate is still wet, immediately roll the rims of the cones in red, white, and blue sprinkles. Stand the cones upright in cups or a cone holder and allow them to cool at room temperature or briefly chill in the refrigerator.
- Make the Whipped Cream: Use a hand or stand mixer to beat the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Add powdered sugar and vanilla extract, then continue beating until stiff peaks form. Be careful not to over-mix.
- Assemble the Cones: Once the chocolate has set, fill each cone with whipped cream using a spoon or piping bag. Top with a halved strawberry and a few blueberries. Serve immediately or store in the refrigerator until ready to enjoy!
Notes
Ice Cream Filling: Replace the whipped cream with your favorite ice cream for a cool, creamy treat.
Cheesecake Mousse: Swap the whipped cream for a rich cheesecake mousse for a decadent filling.
Fresh Fruit: Add more fresh fruit like kiwi, raspberries, or blackberries for extra flavor and color.
Lemon Curd: For a tart and sweet filling, try adding a spoonful of lemon curd.
