Description
A quick and cozy pear and ginger chutney that’s sweet, gently spiced, and jammy, perfect for brunch spreads, cheese boards, and savory dishes.
Ingredients
4 ripe pears, peeled and diced
1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
1 small onion, finely chopped
½ cup brown sugar
¼ cup apple cider vinegar
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon ground cloves
¼ teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Combine diced pears, grated ginger, chopped onion, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, cinnamon, cloves, and salt in a medium saucepan.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir until everything is well mixed.
- Cook for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pears soften and the mixture thickens into a glossy, chutney-like consistency.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Ripe but firm pears work best for texture.
Flavors deepen after a day in the refrigerator.
Add chili flakes for heat or extra ginger for more warmth.
Serve cold, room temperature, or gently warmed.
