Description

A quick and cozy pear and ginger chutney that’s sweet, gently spiced, and jammy, perfect for brunch spreads, cheese boards, and savory dishes.

Ingredients

4 ripe pears, peeled and diced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated

1 small onion, finely chopped

½ cup brown sugar

¼ cup apple cider vinegar

½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

¼ teaspoon ground cloves

¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Combine diced pears, grated ginger, chopped onion, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, cinnamon, cloves, and salt in a medium saucepan.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir until everything is well mixed.
  3. Cook for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pears soften and the mixture thickens into a glossy, chutney-like consistency.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Ripe but firm pears work best for texture.

Flavors deepen after a day in the refrigerator.

Add chili flakes for heat or extra ginger for more warmth.

Serve cold, room temperature, or gently warmed.
